‘Dawn’ Χαραυγή (from Crete)

Χαραυγή (Dawn), originally for Cretan Laouto was sourced from the playing of Giórgos Nkompákis on the album Tragoudia tis Kritis (Songs of Crete, 1976) and is the fifth piece of the 'Drawing Threads 2020' Project from Griselda Sanderson celebrating music from around Europe.

This beautiful melody from the island of Crete is performed on viola and violin, with Louis Bingham on cittern and percussion. Griselda’s instruments were made by her father, Derick M Sanderson.
